Managing Tip Settings

Control how tips are displayed, calculated, processed, and refunded

This page helps you to configure how tips work across your entire MioCommerce account.

To access: Settings → Tips

⚠️ Stripe must be enabled to collect tips.

1️⃣ Display Option

Control whether the “Request Tip” option appears inside dialogs and action buttons.

Setting:

Do you want to hide request tips in dialogs and action buttons?

  • Yes → The tip request option will be hidden

  • No → Tip request buttons will be visible in booking actions

This helps if:

  • You temporarily want to disable tip collection

  • Your business does not collect tips

2️⃣ Default Tip Recommendations for Customers

Set suggested tip percentages that customers will see when tipping.

You can configure:

  • First Percentage Option (e.g., 15%)

  • Second Percentage Option (e.g., 18%)

  • Third Percentage Option (e.g., 20%)

These values appear as quick-select options when customers submit a tip via:

  • QR code

  • SMS link

  • Online payment screen

💡 Best Practice: Use 3 clear, rounded percentages to make selection fast and frictionless.

3️⃣ Payment Processing Fee Handling

Stripe charges a processing fee on each transaction.

Setting:

Do you want to reduce the tip payout by the Stripe payment processing fee?

  • Yes → Processing fee is deducted from the service provider’s tip payout

  • No → You absorb the processing fee as the business owner

This setting affects:

  • How much your service providers receive

  • Your operational cost structure

4️⃣ Administrator Fee on Tips

You may choose to apply an admin fee on tips.

Setting:

Do you want to apply an admin fee – reduces payout to service provider (%)?

Example:

  • 10% admin fee on a $20 tip

  • Service provider receives $18

  • $2 retained by business

This is useful if:

  • You manage shared operational costs

  • You run a franchise model

  • You want to retain a percentage of tips

Tips in MioCommerce are designed to be flexible, transparent, and easy to manage.
Whether collected manually or automatically, each tip is securely processed, clearly recorded, and fully traceable within your payments and bookings.
