In this article, we’ll explain how to start collecting tips easily.
Here’s what you’ll learn about tip collection:
NOTE: This only applies to credit/debit card payments taken using the MioCommerce integrated payment processor solution via Stripe.

1) How to set the % for the tip amount?
Before you hit "Request Tip", make sure to set a % in the settings
You can set 3 percentage options for your customer. You can add 10%, 15%, 20% or any number that you prefer. Your customer would have a custom option too!
2) How to collect tips from the customer?
Once you have set the % and is using our Stripe payment processor, you can give your clients the option of giving a tip.

To send a request for tips to a customer for a booking,
a) Login to your account and select the booking for which you would like to get a tip.
b) Click on "Request Tip" button on the right panel
Once you click on "Request Tip", a pop-up box will appear confirming a tip request has been sent to the customer by email and text.
Note: the amount for tip will reflect under "Cost information"
Note: For your customers to receive tip requests, please do check if the Communications are set to "Yes" for email and SMS*. (*SMS available only with our Grow subscription plan)
3) What does my customer communications for tips look like?
Your customer would receive an email as well as text for a Booking tip request
Once your customer clicks on "Leave a Tip" or the link in the text, it would lead them to the below-hosted page >
Once your customer clicks on "Accept", the tip will be automatically processed and charged as a separate transaction from the card on file. No need to charge for the tip amount inside your MioCommerce account. The tip amount will reflect on the Booking in your account.
Note: If you are not using integrated Stripe payment processor, your customers will see a message, like below.
4) How to get notified when your customer has successfully paid the tip?
To receive a notification when your customer has given you a tip, simply go to settings > notifications
Under general Settings > Send Notifications to Administrators when click "Yes" to
Service Provider received a tip. And you (Admin) will be notified every time a customer leaves a tip
If you would like to notify your team member (Service Provider) who received the tip, simply click "Yes" to Service Provider received a tip under "Send Service Provider Notifications when"
5) How do tips get distributed if there are two or more service providers assigned for the same job?
If there are two or more service providers for a single booking, then the tips get distributed automatically (after deducting the stripe fees)
For example, the Booking amount is $100 and the tip is $20 (when 2 Service Providers were assigned). Stripe fees is $2.
Then the tip each service provider will receive would be = $20 - $2 = $18/2 = $9
6. Where can I view the summary of the tips?
To view the summary of all the tips received, Scroll to the "Service Provider Management section and click on "Tip Summary". You can filter the view by Service provider or by a period like this month, week etc
