Rescheduling a booking lets admins update the date or time of an appointment while keeping customers and service providers informed. It’s commonly used when availability changes, a customer requests a new time, or to prevent confusion about appointment details.

This helps prevent common scheduling mismatches such as:

  • The service provider arrives, but the customer expected a different time

  • The customer waits, but the service provider is scheduled for another time

  • An outdated date/time remains on the booking

  • Availability changes but the booking isn’t updated

Tip: Sending notifications after rescheduling helps ensure everyone is aligned and can reduce no-shows.

Step-by-step: Reschedule a booking

A booking can be rescheduled from multiple places:

  1. Booking Profile: Click “Reschedule Booking” in the Actions panel

2. Calendar: Drag-and-drop the booking to a new time slot

3. Calendar pop-up: Click a booking, then use the date/time selectors in the event pop-up.

After rescheduling, MioCommerce will ask if you want to send a notification to the relevant customer and service provider(s) (for companies with subscription access to Dispatching).

Common questions about rescheduling bookings

  • Can customers reschedule?

This depends on your booking and notification settings. Some businesses allow customers to request changes, while others prefer to manage rescheduling internally to keep tighter control over availability and assignments.

  • What happens to recurring bookings?

If the booking is part of a recurrence, MioCommerce will ask whether you want to update only this booking or all future recurring bookings. This helps you avoid unintentionally changing the entire schedule.

  • Will rescheduling affect the assigned service provider?

Rescheduling a booking does not automatically change the assigned service provider. However, you can choose to reassign the booking or add multiple service providers if availability has changed.

  • Does rescheduling change payments or invoices?

No. Rescheduling a booking does not automatically update payments, invoices, or charges. Any payment changes (such as refunds or additional charges) must be handled separately based on your payment settings.

  • Will customers and service providers be notified automatically?

After rescheduling, MioCommerce will ask whether you want to send notifications.
Sending notifications helps ensure customers and service providers are aligned on the updated appointment details.

  • Is there a limit to how many times a booking can be rescheduled?

There is no technical limit. However, frequent rescheduling can cause confusion for customers and service providers.

Tip: Setting clear rescheduling policies (such as notice periods or limits) helps reduce last-minute changes.
