How to Ask for a Tip from the Mobile App

Requesting a tip from the Mobile App gives your team a fast, secure way to collect tips on-site.

Customers simply scan or click on SMS, choose a tip amount, and confirm - while the system securely processes and records the transaction automatically.

With full admin control over access rights, you can decide whether only administrators or also service providers can request tips, ensuring flexibility while maintaining control.

When Should You Use This?

This option is ideal when:

  • The service has just been completed

  • The customer decides on the tip in person

  • You want service providers to collect tips directly

How to Request a Tip

  1. Open the Mobile App

  2. Navigate to the relevant Booking

  3. Tap the action menu at the bottom of the screen

  4. Select:

    • Request a Tip (QR Code)

    • Or send a secure tip link via SMS

What the Customer Sees

If using QR Code:

  • A QR code appears on your screen

  • The customer scans it using their own device

  • They select a suggested percentage or enter a custom amount

  • They confirm and complete the payment

The tip is processed immediately through MioPay (via Stripe) and recorded automatically in the system.

Where the Tip Appears

The tip will:

  • Appear in Payments → Tips

  • Be visible in the Booking’s payment section

  • Be recorded as a separate transaction for reporting clarity

Allowing Service Providers to Request Tips

You can control whether service providers can request tips.

To enable:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Adjust Service Provider permissions for tip requests

This gives your team the ability to collect tips independently while maintaining control.

Collecting tips from the Mobile App is quick, secure, and fully tracked within MioCommerce. Customers can add a tip in seconds, and administrators remain in control of who can request them.

If you prefer to streamline the process even further, you can simplify payments and tipping by enabling Pre-Authorized Tips, which automatically add a tip when charging the customer.

You can also customize how tips behave across your account in Tip Settings, including suggested percentages and payout rules.
