Pre-Authorized Tips

Automatically add a tip to a customer’s bookings — by percentage or fixed amount.

Pre-Authorized Tips, allow you to automatically include a tip when charging a customer. This reduces payment friction and ensures consistent tipping for recurring clients.

How Pre-Authorized Tips Work

When enabled for a customer:

  • A tip is automatically added when the booking is charged

  • The tip is processed at the same time as the booking charge

  • The tip is recorded as a separate transaction for reporting and refund purposes

You can choose one of the following options:

  • Percentage-based tip (e.g., 15% of the booking total)

  • Fixed amount tip (e.g., $10 per booking)

  • None (disable automatic tipping)

When to Use Pre-Authorized Tips

This feature is ideal for:

  • Recurring customers

  • Clients who prefer automatic tipping

How to Set It Up Pre-Authorized Tips

Navigate to the customer profile you want to enable Pre-Authorized Tips for.

Make sure the customer has a payment method on file. If there isn’t one, follow this guide to collect a payment method directly from the customer. Stripe must be connected to use this feature.

Then, click Edit.

Toward the bottom, you will see a Tips section. Select one of the following:

  • Percentage – Add a tip based on a % of the booking total

    • Example: 15% of a $100 service = $15 tip

  • Fixed Amount – Add a set dollar value to every booking

    • Example: Always add $10

  • None – No tip added automatically

Click Save to apply your preferences

Congratulations! Now, every time you charge that customer, a tip based on the amount entered above will be automatically applied. You will receive a warning before the charge to ensure you understand the implications. At any time, you can return to the customer profile and disable this setting.

What Happens During Charging?

When charging the customer:

  • The booking amount and tip are processed together

  • The system displays a confirmation before completing the charge

  • The tip appears separately in Payments → Tips

  • Both booking and tip can be refunded independently

Customer Control

Customers can:

  • View their pre-authorized tip settings

  • Modify or remove the tip through their customer portal

You will be notified if changes are made.

When is the tip charged?
At the same time the booking is charged.

Can I apply different tips for different services?
Currently, pre-authorized tips apply globally, but more customization is coming.

Can I disable it later?
Yes. You can edit or remove the tip setting at any time from the customer profile.
