How Can I Charge My Customer Using a Credit or Debit Card?

Charge customers securely - use a saved card, a new card, or send a payment link

MioCommerce allows you to charge customers securely using MioPay, its built-in card payment feature powered by Stripe.

This article explains how to charge a customer directly from their customer profile, using one of the available card-based options -

  • Using a saved card,

  • A new card, or

  • By sending a payment link

This article provides a step-by-step guide for each option.

Section 1 – Requirements

Before charging a customer in MioCommerce by card, make sure your Stripe account is connected to your MioCommerce account.

Section 2 – How to Charge a Customer

Navigate to Customers.

View the customer you want to charge.

Click on Charge Customer

Section 3 – Card Payment Options

There are three ways to charge a customer in MioCommerce using Stripe:

Option 1: Charge Using a Card on File

  • Use a payment method already saved in the customer’s MioCommerce profile.

  • Payment is processed instantly.

  • Best for returning customers

Option 2: Charge Using a New Card (One-Time)

  • Enter a new payment method for a one-time charge.

  • The card can optionally be saved in the customer’s MioCommerce profile for future use.

    NEW! MioCommerce allows you to charge a customer using a credit card for a one-time payment directly from the web or mobile app. This payment method is designed for situations where you do not want to save the customer’s card for future use.

Option 3: Send a Payment Link

  • Generate a secure payment link your customer can use to pay online.

  • The customer can click the link to view a summary of the charge and complete payment securely.

  • Before sending, you have the option to preview the email to ensure all details are correct.

Section 4 – What Happens After a Payment Link Is Used

The Send a Payment Link option lets you generate a secure link your customer can use to pay online. This is ideal for customers who don’t have a saved payment method or prefer to pay at their convenience.

The customer will receive an email that looks like the below image. To access the payment page, they simply need to click Complete Payment.

The link takes the customer to a secure page showing a summary of the charge, including booking(s) details. From this page, they can enter a payment method and complete the payment. They also have the option to save the payment method in MioCommerce for future charges.

What Happens After a Customer Pays Using a Payment Link

Once a customer completes payment using the secure payment link:

Payment Confirmation

The customer is redirected to a confirmation page showing that the payment was successful.

Email Notifications:

  • Administrators receive an email notification when booking(s) are paid using a payment link.

  • This helps your team stay informed and take any necessary next steps.

  • These notifications can be turned off if desired.

Booking Status Update

  • The related booking(s) are automatically marked as Charged in Full in MioCommerce.

  • Payment records and balances update immediately.

Charging customers using card payments in MioCommerce (MioPay) is fast, secure, and flexible. Whether you charge a card on file, use a one-time card, or send a payment link, all payments are tracked automatically and processed securely via Stripe, making it easy for both you and your customers.
